Paulo Sousa declared himself 'satisfied' following Fiorentina's goalless draw at Atalanta.

The Viola were on the backfoot for much of the contest in Bergamo, but an inspired performance by goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu ensured they left with a point.

"The spirit of the boys has always been the same from the first day – to win with quality and to be dominant," Sousa told Sky Sport following the final whistle.

"Today, both teams looked to win it. There was movement to try to win, I am satisfied.

"There have been many matches in which we have done better than the opposition without getting points. We are conscious of the limits and capabilities the boys are showing on the pitch."

Today's result leaves Fiorentina in eighth place in Serie A, eight points behind Milan in seventh. An underwhelming season has cast doubt on whether Sousa will keep his job beyond the summer, but the Portuguese is adamant he does not think about it.

"I try to concetrate on the things I can control. Somebody else can think about other things. The objective is to be as competitive as possible."

Sousa also reserved praise for today's opponents, who have defied all expectation to lie fourth in the table.

"I congratulate Atalanta. They have been doing well for many years and they have always had this football culture. They are an example to anyone following a similar line."
