Zlatan Ibrahimovic is ready to sign a one-year contract renewal with Milan and he’s willing to significantly lower his salary.

The 40-year-old Swedish forward returned to the Lombardy capital in January 2020 after leaving LA Galaxy and he’s gone on to become one of the most important players in Stefano Pioli’s squad, being an experienced winner that the young stars can look to as a reference point. Ibrahimovic is an instrumental figure in the dressing room and his leadership is invaluable.

As reported by Tuttosport, Ibrahimovic and Milan are ready to move ahead together for one more year and a new one-year deal is being worked on. The Swedish striker wants to be there in January, effectively skipping the first three months of the season and coming back after the World Cup in Qatar. He is currently out following a knee surgery.

Ibrahimovic will significantly lower his salary in this new deal, but there are many add-ons included linked to appearances and performance. It’s not a question of money for the Swedish veteran, however, but a desire to continuing wearing the Rossoneri colours for one more year.

The 40-year-old Milan striker is expected to earn around €2m net for the year plus various add-ons.

  1. Good move for all parties. I hope he becomes the team manager next season. It’s a role he could really do well in.

There’s been talk he could even become an agent, there’s no doubt he’d do well in that arena too but I hope he chooses the team.

  2. Well 2m net is basically a 6m a year contract since he will be playing 30% of the matches at best. Factor in the add-ons and it’s the same contract as before.

Not saying he ain’t worth it though.

  3. That’s very nice to hear.
I m wishing a very execellent history throughout his football career.
    By kabeer from nigerian.

  4. We will take CL
This is the only reason why he stays
    Atalanta will beat PSG
Juve will do fine playing 1-0 matches as their try to be Milan with Sarri and Pirlo was to uncomfortable for them so they went back
Inter still goes Juve with stability but we knows how that goes
Napoli wins Serie A which they deserved for some time now
Bologna goes higher and does good
    Oh yeah Milan Wins CL
