Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to work in the gym and should be able to start running next week.

The pre-season training has been at the gym so far for the Rossoneri veteran, who suffered a knee injury towards the end of 2020-21 and underwent a keyhole surgery on June 18.

Ibrahimovic expected back in eight weeks

Tuttosport claims he will be back running from next week and start the physical preparation for the new season.

The 39-year-old extended his stay at San Siro after contributing 15 goals in 19 Serie A games last term but missed large parts of the season due to muscle injuries.

The latest setback meant Zlatan missed the European Championship with Sweden, as he made his return to the national team ahead of the competition.

The newspaper believes Zlatan has targeted to be back in time for the first match against Sampdoria on August 23.

Milan finished second in Serie A 2020-21, qualifying for the Champions League in the process, and have replaced Mario Mandzukic with Olivier Giroud to give Ibrahimovic competition up front.
