While Everton continue negotiations with Carlo Ancelotti, there are Italian reports Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also heading to Goodison Park.

There were multiple reports in England and Italy on Monday evening that Ancelotti had agreed a contract to June 2022, believed to be worth €4.5m per season.

However, Everton released a statement insisting there was no deal yet.

“In the 11 days since Marco Silva left the club, the Everton board has been working to recruit a new permanent manager – and has held meetings with a number of candidates.

However, Everton released a statement insisting there was no deal yet.

“In the 11 days since Marco Silva left the club, the Everton board has been working to recruit a new permanent manager – and has held meetings with a number of candidates.

“We can confirm that thus far no contract offer has been made and no candidate has chosen to withdraw from the process.”

Most consider it down to the details and Ancelotti is their number one choice, a week after he was fired by Napoli.

He is still under contract with the Partenopei and would need to negotiate a termination by mutual consent before signing for Everton.

Meanwhile, Rai Sport pundit Paolo Paganini claims that Ancelotti has not lost hope of being reunited with Ibrahimovic, as they could end up together at Everton.

This would fit in with Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban noting Ibra was “further away” from agreeing a move to them.

Sky Sport Italia also suggested over the weekend that Ibrahimovic is tempted by a Premier League club, but it is not a return to Manchester United.

The Swede is a free agent after his contract with the LA Galaxy expired and he dropped multiple hints he was hading back to Serie A, with Milan, Bologna, Napoli and Roma interested.

Over the last couple of days, Napoli have said he is "not a priority" and Milan commented Ibrahimovic was no closer to accepting their terms.
