Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw the Sulley Muntari phantom goal in Milan-Juventus as “a tragedy for football,” as the controversy rages on.

Saturday’s 1-1 draw was an ill-tempered affair dominated by the Muntari goal that was not awarded in the first half despite it crossing the line.

“The fact Muntari’s goal was not seen by the linesman is a tragedy for football,” commented Ibrahimovic while on international duty with Sweden.

“I was more disappointed than angry after the game. Everyone could see it was a goal, so not to give it in that situation…

“You can make a mistake with an offside, but not for a goal like that.”

Juventus also had a goal disallowed for Alessandro Matri’s incorrect offside call.

Ibra was not taking part in that game because he was completing his three-match ban for slapping Salvatore Aronica.

“Opponents do anything to stop me. You do learn from your mistakes and try not to repeat them, but I couldn’t say for sure if I’d never do it again. There is always so much tension on the field.”

Milan teammate Philippe Mexes has also been suspended for three rounds when he was caught on camera punching Marco Borriello in the ribs.
