Fiorentina coach Beppe Iachini has admitted he would have preferred facing Inter further down the line.

The Viola started with a 1-0 win against Torino last weekend but Iachini insists some of his new players ‘still need time to be at their best’ ahead of the trip to Milan.

The match against Inter might come too soon for the Fiorentina coach, but he still hopes for a 'great performance' against the Nerazzurri.

“I would have preferred facing Inter at a later point this season,” he said at a press conference. “We have some new players who still need time to be at their best.

“We face a great side, the main challengers for Juventus, and they start their second year under a great coach.

“Inter are solid and have one of the best attacks in the League. They have quality and are organised. We need a great performance. We must show what we worked on and not be afraid.”
