But the Coach who took the Rosanero back into Serie A two seasons ago marked his dismissal with a dignified reflection on his time in Sicily.
“There’s the knowledge that I’ve done great work with the players, the club and the President,” he told Gianluca Di Marzio.
“In football there are situations like this, but never mind. The important thing is to have a clear conscience.
“There’s still a great affection for everyone. When you’re in the same place for two and a half years and you share beautiful emotions, it’s pleasing to leave with a nice memory.
“I’ve always felt affection and I thank everyone for this, I hope I’ve given great satisfaction.
“We had great moments with the group, I always believed they could do great things and I’m sure they will reach their objectives.”
