Franco Vazquez expects a 'three-horse race' to remain in Serie A after Palermo beat Sampdoria 2-0.

The striker is expected to leave the team at the end of the season, with Milan the most likely destination, but goals such as today's are still helping keep the Rosanero afloat.

Palermo are competing with Carpi and Udinese not to be left among the bottom three, though Sampdoria could also sink back down after today's defeat.

“We wanted those three points,” Vazquez told the Press after the game. “We need everyone, our group is compact and we want to stay in Serie A.

“We're hopeful. It's a three-horse race and the one that makes the least mistakes will stay in this league.

“Saving ourselves is too important. I don't want to leave Palermo in Serie B, I'm hoping it won't come to that.”
