According to Tuttosport Romelu Lukaku is ready to take a pay cut to avoid returning to Chelsea in the summer, while Hakan Calhanoglu will soon sign a contract extension.

Lukaku returned to the Stadio Meazza on loan last summer and the Nerazzurri will decide whether to keep him for one more season depending on his performances in the second part of the campaign.

The Belgium international is desperate to remain at Inter in 2023-24 avoiding a return to Stamford Bridge and according to Tuttosport, he is ready to take a pay cut to stay at the Stadio Meazza.

Inter are paying just part of his salary for the current campaign and spent €8m plus potential €3m add-ons to bring him back to the club last summer.

According to the report, the Nerazzurri will ask for a discount for a second season on loan for Lukaku, but Chelsea are unlikely to match the Nerazzurri’s demands asking to include an option to buy.

Meantime, according to the report, Calhanoglu is ready to sign a contract extension with the Nerazzurri.

The Nerazzurri have held talks with his agent lately and are confident of finalising the agreement after the end of the January transfer window, extending the midfielder’s stay at the club beyond 2024.
