Romelu Lukaku is in a race against time to try and convince Inter to agree a new deal with Chelsea ahead of his return in the summer, reports detail.

The Belgian striker was sold by the Nerazzurri to the Blues in August 2021 for €113m, but things quickly went wrong in the Premier League and he quickly looked to make a return to Serie A.

Inter managed to agree an €8m loan deal with Chelsea in the summer, giving Lukaku the chance to make amends in the Lombardy capital only 12 months after his high-profile exit.

As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport, whilst Lukaku is still keen to stay with Inter for the foreseeable future, he’s done little this season to convince the club to invest in his services.

Injuries have heavily limited the Belgian’s time on the pitch, seeing him play just 362 minutes of Serie A action across seven games, and he only managed one goal in that time.

With less than six months left in this season, Lukaku is in a race against time to prove his value to Inter and convince them to find a new agreement with Chelsea.
