Adriano Galliani says January signing Keisuke Honda specifically asked for the Milan No 10 jersey.

The official yesterday confirmed that the Japanese international would be heading to San Siro next month after his contract at CSKA Moscow expired.

“He wanted the No 10 shirt and we made him happy,” the CEO commented outside the Lega Serie A on Friday.

“He’s an excellent player who has always done well up to now. He is presently in Japan, but he will join up with us on December 30.

“He has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract which will expire in June 2017.”

Galliani was also asked about the Champions League in a week where his side progressed to the last 16, but Juventus and Napoli were demoted to the Europa League.

“That competition is in our DNA,” the official added. “History shows that, we are the only Italians in the UEFA’s top 10 club ranking.

“For the future, we’ll have to look out for Portugal.

“Juventus’ game at Istanbul? It was a tie that should have been postponed. You could not play football on that pitch.”
