Pipita has not found the back of the net for six weeks, prompting rumours Milan might not activate the €36m option to buy from Juventus or even release him in January.

“It’s not a weight on me, it’s what I need to do and why the club bought me. I need to score goals, but to achieve that I have to be calm, focused and help the team, then the goals will come by themselves.

“I’ve been reading this sort of thing for 13 years, so there’s no chance this is going to affect me. I am so used to it.

“I’m proud to wear the Number 9 jersey of Milan, worn by so many greats including Pippo Inzaghi.”
