Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain declares “we must try to win” the Europa League and Coppa Italia but “maybe we’re missing something” for the Scudetto.
The Argentine international joined the Rossoneri this summer from Juventus, arriving on an €18m loan with a €36m option to buy next summer.
“I chose Milan because I liked the conviction with which they sought me out and the conviction in their project,” Higuain explained to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I chose Milan because I liked the conviction with which they sought me out and the conviction in their project,” Higuain explained to Gazzetta dello Sport.
“In addition, [Coach Gennaro] Gattuso and [directors] Leonardo and Paolo Maldini know Milan really well and Elliott [the owners] made a huge effort for me.
“I really liked the approach they took to get me.
“Chelsea were interested, but there was a fundamental difference: everyone wanted me here, whereas there it was only the Coach [Maurizio Sarri] who wanted me.
“I feel good, I’m going through a moment of great form and I’m making the most of it. I hope I can continue like this.
“At Milan I feel like four or five years ago, I’ve returned to what I was at Napoli and I’m happy.
“Milanello is football, and Milan have given me something more after a World Cup which wasn’t great. I found what I was looking for.
“The attitude in the dressing room is great, I’m just sorry about the table because we deserve to be higher. But otherwise I feel good and this is a very good moment of my life mentally and professionally.
“Milan must try to win everything we take part in. My objectives are to take the team into the Champions League, score as many goals as possible, and win the Europa League and Coppa Italia.
“Those are the objectives, history requires it of us, and we believe.
“For the Scudetto we maybe lack something, it’s a competition in which consistency counts. If we’re not close to Juve it’s due to our own mistakes.
“But the Europa League and the Coppa Italia are shorter competitions and we must try to win them.
“We’ve dropped five points because of the matches with Napoli and Atalanta, but the truth is we believe in our strength and we’re not inferior to anyone.
“I think we can win this year, we can’t wait for three. We need to be aware that we have the potential to win this season, because Milan have the means to do it.
“If we don’t do it then we’ll see next time. But we need to make the fans understand that we have the potential to have a good season.”
