Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is “calm” over his future, and insists his focus is on Argentina.

The 28-year-old was top-scorer in Serie A last season, hitting 36 goals in just 35 games as the Partenopei finished second behind Juventus.

Despite the fact there’s a €94m release clause in his contract, it has nevertheless been suggested that he could leave San Paolo this summer.

Despite the fact there’s a €94m release clause in his contract, it has nevertheless been suggested that he could leave San Paolo this summer.

“I’m calm, but now I’m just thinking about the national team,” Higuain told reporters after last night’s Copa America win over Venezuela.

“The Copa? It was important to get through and luckily we succeeded. Now we’re just one step away from the final.

“My goal? [Lionel] Messi put in a perfect ball, thankfully I was able to score it.”
