Inter midfielder Hernanes admits he felt “more pressure” at Lazio, as he faces his former club tomorrow night.

“There are some big differences between the two sets of fans and what it means to play for those clubs,” Hernanes told reporters.

“There are some big differences between the two sets of fans and what it means to play for those clubs,” Hernanes told reporters.

“There is more discretion in Milan, whereas you feel more pressure in Rome, but having said that I personally felt fantastic living in Rome.”

He famously burst into tears and was hugged by Lazio ultras as he drove away from the training ground in January 2014, aware that he was about to complete the transfer to Inter.

Hernanes wore the Lazio jersey for three and a half years, scoring 33 goals in 118 appearances.

The Brazilian was also asked about the difficulties of keeping to a diet as an athlete.

“Every day you need protein, more carbohydrates when you’re closer to a game. It’s fundamental to find a balance between the two and in that sense the medical staff is very helpful.”
