French authorities have strengthened security measures near the Parc des Princes as Paris Saint-Germain gear up for their Champions League match with Milan.

A report from Le Parisien via TMW details how the match has been considered a ‘class three’ risk, prompting authorities to increase their presence at the stadium and in the surrounding areas.

The PSG ultras in particular have been the focus of authorities, who are aware that Palestinian flags could be waved in the stands, despite UEFA’s ban on the display of political symbols. Around 2000 Milan fans are expected to attend the Champions League match in the French capital.

Authorities have also decided to strengthen security due to the risk of accidents or fan clashes, as well as the awful incident that occurred in Brussels last week during the game between Belgium and Sweden.

French authorities have come under fire in the past for their struggles handling football games, with an example being the chaos surrounding the 2022 Champions League final.
