Napoli did enough to take home all three points in their Champions League win over Union Berlin, but coach Rudi Garcia again failed to impress.

Pressure has continued to mount on the French coach in recent weeks following the Partenopei’s slow start to the season, but he still seemingly has the trust of president Aurelio De Laurentiis for the time being.

Napoli needed to find victory in their third Champions League outing following their recent loss to Real Madrid and they eventually found the breakthrough against Union thanks to Giacomo Raspadori, who scored the only goal of the match.

Corriere dello Sport underlined how Garcia’s work wasn’t particularly impactful in Napoli’s win over Union, instead giving the credit to the team’s stars, writing: “The victory belongs to his talents, who give a kick to ghosts, they’re the daughter of lightning.”

La Gazzetta dello Sport noted the importance of the victory but again highlighted how the Partenopei have failed to look particularly convincing, commenting: “The results prove him right, but as in Braga the team suffers against an opponent that is not transcendental.”

Tuttosport tried to find the positives in Napoli’s win over Union, praising striker Raspadori for the decisive goal, saying: “Choice of Raspadori is fully repaid. Maybe they’re not a sparkling Napoli, but they took home three very important points.”
