The Partenopei are three points behind Juventus, who beat city rivals Torino in the Derby della Mole yesterday.

The match has been the source of controversy, with Gonzalo Higauin’s agent accusing referee Nicola Rizzoli of giving the Bianconeri “major help”.

However, the Vesuviani captain would rather focus on his own team’s win over Genoa.

“We started well in Genoa, but we conceded a goal to go behind,” Hamsik wrote on his official website.

“We could have resolved it in the first half, but we failed to capitalise on our chances. After the break we scored three goals.

“It was a very hard battle in which we showed our strength and character. We’re happy to have gained another three points, now there will be a break and then another eight matches.

“We’re not looking at other teams, we’re just focusing on ourselves. Our eyes are always on the next match.”
