The Turkish club had never previously beaten an Italian side in Europe, but emerged 3-2 winners from this Champions League trip to the Stadio San Paolo.

“We played against a great Napoli side, but defended well and it was a fine performance,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We scored early on, then in the second half controlled the game well. I am very happy. We modified our tactics to face Napoli, trying to hit them on the counter.

“My wide men played very well and I am pleased that I made the right choices. However, I had very little faith in the referee. On the second Napoli penalty, I was furious.”

The Russian official had a poor night overall, as Vincent Aboubakar’s winning goal was offside.
