Ruud Gullit urges Milan to go all-out for the Coppa Italia because “new cycles need a victory”.

The Rossoneri take on Juventus in the final of the competition, and the Dutchman discussed their fortunes after being inducted into the FIGC’s Hall of Fame yesterday.

“Things have changed,” Gullit told Sky.

“The Rossoneri fans have to be patient because football is a wave, one moment you rise to the sky and the next you crash down.

“The Rossoneri fans have to be patient because football is a wave, one moment you rise to the sky and the next you crash down.

“The Rossoneri projects are ambitious, but it won’t be easy to get back to dominating the world like we did.

“There’s a simple reason: champions no longer come to Italy. They prefer the Premier League, or Barcelona or Real Madrid.

“It’s not just a question of money, it’s a question of charm. There is one Italian club that’s working well though: Juventus. They know how to choose players well, and that’s the secret to swimming against the tide.

“Milan can win the Coppa, and new cycles need a victory, even in a tournament which isn’t very important, to gain momentum.

“The problem is that Juve are in the final and the Bianconeri are strong. I think they’ll win another Scudetto.

Napoli, who seemed like such a fearsome rival, are a bit behind in the standings now.”
