The Colombian midfielder joined the Nerazzurri in January on a six-month loan deal from Porto, with the Italians given the option in the deal to make the move permanent this summer for a set fee of €13.5m.

Guarin already has a four-year contract with the San Siro outfit signed should they activate the clause, something that 25-year-old believes will happen.

“I feel that I will stay at Inter for all four years of the contract I signed,” the midfielder told FCInterNews.it on Thursday.

“I still have to wait [for confirmation], but I feel very confident. Inter is a club that enchants me, and my family is thrilled with the city of Milan.

“I have recovered from my injury in a positive way, meaning that when I returned to the camp I was able to give a good intensity to my performances.”

As he pushes to stay at Inter, Guarin reflected on a compatriot, Ivan Cordoba, who is set to leave this June.

“Ambition and mentality – this is what makes a strong Colombian. We are of a generation that includes Cordoba, [Mario] Yepes and [Atletico Madrid’s Luis] Perea. My generation in particular, around the mid-20s, is still very strong.”
