The defender has confirmed that this will be his last season with the Nerazzurri, having spent 13 years with the club since joining from San Lorenzo in 1999, and bid farewell to the San Siro crowd before the Milan derby at the weekend.

“The affection is always welcome…at San Siro the other night it almost broke my heart…the emotion,” reflected the 35-year-old on Inter Channel today.

“I also kept the match ball from the derby, with all my teammates’ signatures on it. And anyway, I repeat, I want to thank everyone, because these have been fantastic years, difficult and beautiful, it was all part of a beautiful dream.”

The Colombian gave his opinion on Coach Andrea Stramaccioni, who is only eight months older than Cordoba.

“He is very precise, even in the instructions he gives us, he has good sense, good instincts and makes us understand things on the fly, qualities that have been important in this short period of work. Before the derby he had told me that he might need me during the game and in doing so he has given me great confidence.”

Cordoba has been linked with a move into a technical role at Inter, something he was reluctant to go into detail on.

“If my ideas and suggestions are helpful in the future for Inter defenders then I’ll gladly go into coaching. I know what I will do, but I will wait a few days before announcing it.”
