Juventus have announced that Claudio Marchisio suffered only “a mild groin strain” for Italy last night.

The midfielder had to go off injured in the first half of the 3-0 win over Uruguay, and he was forced to pull out of the squad.

Inter’s Roberto Gagliardini replaced him, while Il Principino headed back to Turin for tests.

“Claudio Marchisio has undergone medical tests today which reveal a mild groin strain in his right leg,” a statement from the Bianconeri confirmed.

“The midfielder was prematurely withdrawn after 19 minutes in Wednesday night's international friendly fixture between Italy and Uruguay at the Allianz Riviera in Nice.”
