The Brazilian is thought to be on his way out of San Siro after spending most of the season on the bench.

“I am optimistic, as we have a great chance of concluding the deal so we can bring Ronaldinho to Gremio,” President Odone announced.

“We cannot do anything until January 1, as we must wait until the player resolves his rapport with Milan directly. Then we can make the move.”

His contract expires in June and to avoid losing him on a free transfer, the club is likely to push for a sale during the January transfer window.

If Gremio believe he will simply rescind his contract early instead, then there could be some sort of compensation scheme in place.

Ronaldinho has also been linked with Palmeiras and David Beckham's LA Galaxy.
