The Zebrette seemed to have secured a 2-2 draw in the last five minutes of the game, only for Ante Rebic to score the winner for the Rossoneri with seconds remaining.

Despite the defeat, Gotti only wants to look at the positives.

“I have to say the team didn’t do much wrong. It was beautiful to see our attitude on the pitch,” said Gotti in his post-game press conference.

“The only thing we did wrong was not take enough of the chances we created, and perhaps we didn’t defend our goal in the correct way right at the very end.”

The introduction of Ante Rebic changed the game, but Gotti says he didn’t have the opportunity to counter Rebic.

“We didn’t have enough time to be put in difficulty by Rebic, who scored a goal out of nothing, straight away.

“There was transitions of play from both sides and I accept them, where we risked conceding goals. After the 2-1 the mentality of the lads was tested, and they gave an excellent response.

“What happened right at the end makes us go home with regret.”

Milan have now won three consecutive games in all competitions in seven days, and Gotti believes they have turned a corner.

“I have seen the Rossoneri several times in the league, and they’ve collected less points than what they’ve deserved.

“They are a team with high quality players and the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic makes the difference, because he carries a specific weight. We tried to expose their flaws.”
