Mario Gomez has “no intention of returning to Italy” having left Fiorentina for Besiktas on loan.

The German striker has rediscovered his goalscoring touch in Istanbul, with 10 goals in 17 games, and is happy to remain in Turkey rather than return to Florence when his loan ends.

“I have no intention of returning to Italy,” Gomez is reported as saying by tvemhaber.

“I’m happy here. Until now Munich was the city where I was most happy, but now it’s Istanbul. Everything is here.

“The facilities are fantastic, I didn’t have that environment in Italy. There wasn’t even a proper hotel in the small town we went for pre-season.

“I remember we stayed in three star hotels. In Turkey, wherever we go it’s comfort, staying in five star places.

“So why would I leave?”
