It’s been 16 years since the last time Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

In 2005, the then 20-year-old didn’t score in the knockout stages for Manchester United, who were eliminated by Milan.

Since then, the 36-year-old had never exited the Champions League without scoring from the round of 16, until last night.

It’s been 16 years since the last time Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

It was Federico Chiesa who scored three goals across both legs, while the Portuguese talisman didn’t convince and was also guilty of turning in the wall when Sergio Oliveira scored the decisive goal from a free kick.

Since Ronaldo arrived at Juventus, he had scored five times in the knockout stages, with three goals against Atletico Madrid and two against Ajax in 2018-19, before bagging two against Olympique Lyonnais last term.
