Italy sensation Willy Gnonto could soon be on the move, as it’s reported FC Zurich have lowered their asking price to €10m, opening the door for a Serie A return.

The attacking wide man is only 18 years old and has never played in Serie A, leaving the Inter youth academy for a free transfer to FC Zurich in the summer of 2020.

He earned four senior Italy caps under Roberto Mancini, scoring his debut goal, and was probably the most impressive Azzurri player in the Nations League.

FC Zurich had demanded €15-20m for his sale, putting off all Italian clubs, while Hoffenheim and Feyenoord also held back from meeting that figure.

According to Calciomercato.com, Gnonto has pressured the Swiss side into agreeing the figure was too much, so a deal could now be done for just €10m.

If confirmed, that would be affordable for some Serie A clubs ready to show an interest in the teenager.

Sides who had previously been linked include Milan, Bologna, Monza, Sassuolo, Sampdoria and Fiorentina.

6 thought on “Gnonto back on radar for Serie A clubs”
  1. Lets see who buys him, mancini loves him, cant say which club he should go to – as barely seen him play only for italy.

All the best to the young lad

  2. No disrespect to any club or the player, but he should go to a ‘smaller’ club. That way he can play regularly and build up his experience. A ‘big’ club will just mean sitting on the bench.

  3. Maybe he is an Inter fan but Milan and Gnonto are a perfect match in my opinion. Milanm looking for a RW and Gnonto can play RW, LW, or CF. He fits the strategy of recruiting young talents with potential, he’s not overly expensive, and he’s a much needed Italian player for the squad. Not sure why nobody is jumping on him to beat the opposition for next year when he is free.
