Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli highlighted the importance of Napoli’s match against Cagliari tonight but was not concerned about the title race.

A win for the Partenopei tonight would see them join Milan at the top of the league table, tied together on 56 points, two ahead of Simone Inzaghi’s Inter. With both Milanese clubs dropping points this week, Luciano Spalletti’s side need to turn up the heat if they want to keep up the pressure.

Speaking to DAZN before the match against Cagliari, Giuntoli discussed the game at hand and the title race this season.

“It would be important to get a result, but the championship is very long, there are still thirteen games left. It’s a stage of thirteen games: very important, but like the others we have to keep our heads down.”

Napoli have had a good start to 2022, winning five of their last six league matches to open the new year. They face Barcelona in the second leg of their Europa League play-off tie on February 24, later this week. The first leg ended 1-1 in Spain, another strong result for Spalletti, even if the away goals rule has been removed.
