Olivier Giroud looked back at Milan’s key comeback against Lazio and noted it’s importance as the title race comes down to the wire.

The Rossoneri fell 1-0 down to the Biancocelesti early at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, but they refused to give up and Giroud scored a vital equaliser early into the second half. Stefano Pioli’s side kept pushing and eventually Sandro Tonali poked home a winner, giving the Milanese club all three points.

Speaking to Milan’s club outlets, Giroud reflected on the comeback against Lazio and looked ahead to the remaining games of the season.

“We showed great team spirit, we never gave up, we always believed in it. Winning like this is always more beautiful, it’s a crazy emotion with10,000 Milan fans at the Olimpico.

“We played well and we believed in the victory until the end, as I always say, it happens to those who believe in it.

“This moment, at the end of the season, we have more pressure but the squad and the team are focused on the goal, which is to win the next game. We must, all of us, dream, think, eat and breathe this Scudetto, we are there, we want to win it, once again we cannot hide.

“If I don’t score and someone else does, that’s fine with me… I just want Milan to win and I hope that this end of season is beautiful for the fans, we want to live a unique story.”

Inter’s slip-up in their game in hand against Bologna means Milan now hold their Scudetto fate in their own hands; the Rossoneri sit two points ahead of their intercity rivals with only four games remaining, meaning they can afford one draw and still win the title if they win the other three matches.

Milan’s next match is against Fiorentina on May 1 at 14.00 UK time.
