In the second part of his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Olivier Giroud compared life in Milan and London and opened up about his dressing room argument with Kylian Mbappé before the Euros.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal striker publicly complained that nobody had passed him the ball in the second half of France’s friendly encounter against Bulgaria before Euro 2020 last summer. It caused an argument in the France camp, but Giroud insists that it was just ‘media noise.’

Giroud: ‘I followed Milan and Arsenal, Serie A surprised me’

“Nothing special happened, just a lot of media noise for nothing,” the experienced Milan striker said.

When asked whether Mbappé should stay at PSG or join Real Madrid, Giroud added: “He must do what the heart is telling him.”

Scorer of 11 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions this season, Giroud also spoke about the differences between Milan and London, where he lived during his spells at Arsenal and Chelsea.

“London is giant and I have a strong bond with it. Milan has a human dimension which I appreciate. I like Italian cuisine. I’ve found a nice restaurant close to my home, it’s called Zenzero. I’ve also visited the Dome. I like this city which I can admire from my terrace.”

Italy will face North Macedonia in the World Cup play-offs and could meet Turkey or Portugal in the final. Does he hope to see the Azzurri qualify for Qatar 2022?

“It wouldn’t be the same without the champions of Europe,” admitted Giroud.

“With Italy, there would be more competition. I really want my Italian friends to qualify.”
