Olivier Giroud is only a step or two away from signing a new contract with Milan, extending his stay in the Lombardy capital.

The 36-year-old Frenchman signed for the club for €2.85m last year from Chelsea, adding another experienced forward to the Rossoneri squad. Giroud has proven his class since his arrival, scoring 23 across 57 appearances and helping Milan win their first Scudetto in over a decade.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, an understanding has been found between Giroud and Milan regarding a new contract. The Frenchman will return to Milanello tomorrow to resume training and his agent will meet with the club’s directors soon to confirm the details of the new deal.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea forward will put pen to paper on a one-year extension, tying him to the club until 2024.

Giroud featured prominently at the World Cup in Qatar, appearing in all but one of France’s matches in their run to the final. The 36-year-old scored four goals at the tournament.
