The striker arrives on loan with an option to buy from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande, back to the club he represented from 2008 to 2012.

“Today is very important for me, returning to Florence and I am very happy to be here,” he told Viola Channel.

“A small part of the squad remained, such as Vargas and Pasqual, while I find my friend Alino Diamanti too.

“I am very happy to be back, I’m really fired up. I thank the club, as the President and all the staff wanted me. I also thank and salute all the Viola fans.

“Motivation is fundamental and I have a lot of it. I am really hungry to prove myself in Serie A and after five months in China I really want to reach my 200th Serie A goal.
“Guangzhou was a very intense and brief experience, as I arrived in July and the season ended in November. It was different, intense, very hot and humid, but a great experience.

“Tomorrow I’ll be in the stadium to cheer on my Fiorentina teammates against Roma and hope we can put in a great performance to win the game. We have players of great quality and must win as many games as possible.”

Gila is a familiar face in the Viola jersey and was asked to pick his favourite goals for the club.

“I think the first here at the Franchi against Juventus and the one with Liverpool were the most important. I have such fond memories of those goals. I chose jersey Number 9 and I’m happy with it.”

Fiorentina had also got into the Champions League when he was here and are targeting a return to that tournament.

“I think the club in recent years has done great things with the Coach and players. The objective is to get back to the top level and play that type of game.”
