Ex-Milan coach Marco Giampaolo is the hot favourite to take over at Torino from next season, as Moreno Longo won’t be confirmed on the bench.

According to Tuttosport, Giampaolo has agreed in principle to accept the job, although due to the Serie A rules, he cannot be signed to more than one club in a single season.

Having been fired by Milan on October 8 after just seven Serie A games, it means he’ll have to wait until 2020-21.

Torino also sacked Walter Mazzarri earlier this term and brought in Longo, but by all accounts he hasn’t done enough to warrant the role on a permanent basis.

There are other options for the Granata, including ex-SPAL boss Leonardo Semplici, Hellas Verona’s Ivan Juric or even Stefano Pioli.

It was Pioli who replaced Giampaolo at Milan, but the Rossoneri have for months been working on Ralf Rangnick.
