Empoli Coach Marco Giampaolo says he 'harvested Maurizio Sarri's principles' and talks of following him at Napoli.

In spite of Sarri's departure last summer, the Azzurri enjoyed a highly successful campaign under their new Coach and now sit an impressive ninth in the standings.

“I harvested the principles that had been sowed by Sarri,” Giampaolo told Il Corriere dello Sport. “After all, they are my own principles too.

“I harvested the principles that had been sowed by Sarri,” Giampaolo told Il Corriere dello Sport. “After all, they are my own principles too.

“You can see the work he did in these years. He left a mark and a culture of hard work. He didn't just manage things.

“Me at Napoli after Sarri? The way he's going, I suspect he'll stay there a very long time!

“Empoli as a fertile ground? [President Fabrizio] Corsi understands football, but is not invasive.”

Giampaolo also touched on the subject of Leandro Paredes, who is expected to return to Roma at the end of his loan.

“He's ready for Roma. He has great technical skills. We'd purchased him to be a winger, but that role doesn't bring out the best in him, so we moved him to the middle.”
