The Blucerchiati beat Genoa in the Derby della Lanterna, then rested many of their key players for Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat at Juventus, as they seem to consider Inter a more beatable opponent.

“Juventus are a squad of phenomenons and the result could’ve been less heavy. My team played well in the derby and tried to do the same in Turin, but it’s never easy to play in that stadium.

“Inter can do great things or offer less impressive performances. They have excellent players and in the win over Torino I saw a more organised Inter off the ball. Inter is a crazy team, as the fans say.

“We are prepared to defend collectively, because if you take an individual approach against the likes of Mauro Icardi, Eder and Ivan Perisic, you’ll be in trouble. Samp have to take the initiative.

“Frank de Boer has a Dutch mentality, but people who understand football as well as he does are quick learners too. In his soul there is the desire to offer up spectacular football.”

Giampaolo confirmed Dennis Praet is on the treatment table and might not be ready to start, while Emiliano Viviano, Daniel Pavlovic and Carlos Carbonero are still unavailable.
