It’ll be a fascinating clash of two teams who play very similar football, as Giampaolo built on the work done over the previous two seasons by Sarri.

“I am pleased to see Sarri at the top of the table, as it means Coaches in the big clubs can truly bring a style and not just look after the top players,” said Giampaolo.

“It will be extremely difficult because Napoli play such great football. It’s a big test to understand how we deal with difficulties.

“Napoli will put us under pressure and always seek the attacking pass with players of a very high level. We do have some similar principles, mainly that we always try to play the ball.

“Gonzalo Higuain is capable of deciding a match by himself. You can see the way he moves, how he shrugs off markers to find space. He’s almost unstoppable.”

Empoli do not have Federico Barba in the side, as he’s expected to complete a transfer to VfB Stuttgart today.

“Michele Camporese’s moment has arrived and he always trained well. He makes his debut against the top level attacking line in Serie A, but he is ready.”
