Juventus midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini has cooled talk of a possible call-up to the Italian national squad.

Giaccherini has never been included in the Giro Azzurro, but he has caught the eye recently for the Old Lady.

“Let’s not joke about the Italian national side,” he told the Corriere dello Sport. “I’m just concentrating on Juventus for now.

“Only if I do well in Bianconero then maybe I could one day be called up by boss Cesare Prandelli.”

Giaccherini was signed in a co-ownership deal with Cesena in the summer, primarily to boost Antonio Conte’s options on the flank.

However, Giaccherini has been used in a more central midfield position recently as a replacement for Claudio Marchisio.

“I don’t like comparisons,” Giaccherini continued. “Claudio is a great and to step in for him is a motive to be proud of.”
