Genoa have reportedly agreed a €5m deal with Swiss side Young Boys for right-back Silvan Hefti, who will fly in for his medical tomorrow.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, the two clubs have reached an agreement and the medical will be over the next 48 hours.

The 24-year-old is primarily a right-back, but can also play in central defence.

He is yet to represent Switzerland at senior level, despite working his way up through the various youth teams.

Hefti joined Young Boys in September 2020 from FC San Gallo and so far this season has made 29 competitive appearances.

These saw him contribute two goals and four assists, as he found the net in the thrilling 3-3 Champions League draw with Atalanta on November 23.

It was because of that performance he was also linked with Atalanta in the January transfer window.

New Genoa coach Andriy Shevchenko had said he wanted to bring in reinforcements that could allow for a switch to a 4-3-3 formation, having inherited a squad made for Davide Ballardini’s 3-5-2 tactical approach.
