The competition is growing rapidly for Olympique Marseille midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi, as Genoa now join Bologna and Torino, while he rejects Besiktas.

The former Atalanta star was very settled in Italy with his family and is making no secret of his desire to return to the Peninsula after just six months in France.

Torino had seemed to be the favourites ahead of Besiktas, then Bologna joined in the race.

The latest reports point to newly-promoted Serie A side Genoa making an offer and Telenord and Sportitalia feel they are the new most likely candidates for his signature.

Marseille paid €10m to buy him from Atalanta in the January transfer window.

Genoa have been busy investing for coach Alberto Gilardino, over the last 24 hours securing Junior Messias from Milan and Juventus defender Koni De Winter.

Malinovskyi turned 30 in May and wore the Atalanta jersey from 2019 to January 2023, scoring 30 goals and providing 28 assists in 143 competitive games for La Dea.
