Genoa have underlined they have no intention of making Alberto Gilardino available for transfer.

The Italian international returned to Marassi this summer after a successful loan spell at Bologna, but he’s been linked with another move.

Capital outfit Roma are understood to have re-ignited their interest after their decision to sell Pablo Daniel Osvaldo to Southampton this week.

“We have had no contact with Roma,” Rossoblu sporting director Daniele Delli Carri told Pianeta Genoa 1893.

“Gilardino will stay with us. Alberto wants to earn a place at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil while wearing the Genoa shirt.”

The 31-year-old joined the Marassi outfit in January 2012 from Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”12″>Fiorentina, but he’s scored just four times in 14 League games for the Grifone.
