Genoa have again moved to quash speculation surrounding Rodrigo Palacio, suggesting that a contract extension is more likely than a summer departure.

Following on from President Enrico Preziosi’s assurance that the in-form and in-demand Argentine will remain, sporting director Stefano Capozucca has dismissed stories linking him away.

“This is no time to speculate, at this moment we are not focused on this topic,” Capozucca told ilSussidiario.net.

“I am not thinking about the market whatsoever.”

When pressed on Palacio in particular and the latest links to Roma, the ds suggested that the player is more likely to stay with the Grifone for the rest of his career.

“It is not too farfetched and to sign Palacio to Genoa ‘for life’ might be the solution, until the end of his playing days.

“It has already been spoken about and the conditions for the choice of the heart are all there.”
