La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Milan are “on the verge” of a deal for Alvaro Morata, offering €70m to Real Madrid and €10m per year wages.

Today CEO Marco Fassone confirmed “it’d be nice to have one from Andrea Belotti, Morata or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. We’ll see who the choice lands on, even if there are also other names who haven’t been splashed on the front pages yet.

“Evidently we are still thinking of doing something in that position.”

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport this evening, the first choice is Morata and negotiations are progressing rapidly.

The offer on the table is €70m for Real Madrid – still well below the €90m asking price – with a contract for the Spanish striker worth €10m per year.

Morata had been very close to Milan last month, but said he could never betray his two years at Juventus by signing for another Italian club.

However, the failure of Manchester United and Chelsea to agree terms, along with his increasing irritation at the lack of regular playing time (as reported by Marca) have prompted a reconsideration.

Since then, the Rossoneri have also built a remarkable squad with signings like Leonardo Bonucci – his former teammate and good friend at Juventus – Lucas Biglia, Franck Kessie, Andrea Conti, Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez and Hakan Calhanoglu.

Sportitalia add another element to the story, suggesting Morata has recently changed agent and entourage, who are now more open to a Milan move.
