Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis denies that there are divisions between him and directors Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban. "Who's the king? Nobody. The king is Milan."

Gazidis gave a lengthy interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport and talked about an array of issues concerning the Rossoneri.

According to reports, the club has been divided between Gazidis and directors Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban, who have contrasting philosophies on buying players.

“There must be a good mix of talented young people and experienced players who are still hungry for success, a winning mentality and know how to lead the group.

“Zlatan Ibrahimovic has had a huge impact, from a technical, personality and leadership point of view.

“We have never rejected the idea of experienced and ready-made high level players. But we also focus on who can become one in a Milan shirt.

“Isn’t Theo Hernandez a top player today? Isn’t Ismael Bennacer developing into one? There is a team of people trying to find the right balance.”

Gazidis was then asked about his relationship with both Boban and Maldini.

“A top team is fundamental to obtain results, and we have it. We talk to Boban and Maldini every day.

“We come back together, happy or sad, after every game. We all do it together. We all want the same thing.

“I believe that decisions that are made through debate, discussion and different points of view are the best.

“Who’s in charge? Who’s the king? Nobody. The king is what we all work for. the king is Milan.

German coach Ralf Rangnick has long been linked with a move to the club, but Gazidis says current boss Stefano Pioli has his full support.

“I have been in football for 26 years, interacting with hundreds of different people, including at least 20 coaches all over the world, it’s normal.

“Nobody in Milan is thinking about a new coach now. Pioli arrived in difficult situation, he has behaved in an exemplary way.

“His work has been of the highest level and now we are starting to see the team develop. Being the Milan coach is a goal for many great coaches.

“Pioli remains in pole position for now, but also for the future. The season is still on going, and it’s too early to talk about it.”
