“We have to remember every Serie A game is complicated, so while Bologna might have problems lately, they are still difficult to face on their own turf,” warned Gasp in his press conference.
“We must do well to get straight back into the Serie A groove, press the reset button and start again. We are a little concerned by Papu Gomez, as he had a heavy bruise, while we hope Josip Ilicic can recover in time to face Milan.
“The experience that we have gained from the Champions League is also being used in Serie A. I don’t know if we’re going to finish in the top four again, but we’ll do our best. There is a long way to go, Lazio are setting various records and everyone is stepping on the gas.
“People seemed to act as if Atalanta were going to ruin Italy’s UEFA ranking, but we got through to the last 16 and are very proud.”
Their opponents tomorrow are Bologna, who have struggled with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic absent for months as he underwent leukaemia and a bone marrow transplant.
“Bologna are a very good team, even if they have not been able to get the results they deserved, so deserve respect. Clearly, Sinisa Mihajlovic’s situation (battling against leukaemia) has affected everyone in the world of sport, as his courage is an example for all people.
“It is also important to see him there on the bench, still working, as it gives more confidence to those fighting this illness.”
