“The last two weeks have been atypical for us, as people have been putting the spotlight on Atalanta,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It is pleasing, but at the same time we know full well how difficult the season will be. We must embrace the reality of the situation.”

The Orobici are flying high in joint fourth place with Lazio and a win this Sunday would put them just one point behind Roma.

“Roma are a very strong side and have excellent individual talents as well. We want to carry on this positive streak for as long as possible and it’ll take one of our best performances to stop this Roma.

“We are all convinced that, although there will be other tests, we welcome Roma at the best possible moment.”

Atalanta have achieved this successful streak while focusing on players from the youth academy, such as Roberto Gagliardini, Andrea Conti, Mattia Caldara, Andrea Petagna and Franck Kessie.

“I am fortunate to train these lads every day. Some of them were ready to go from the start, like Kessie, while others have come forward in leaps and bounds.”
