Rudi Garcia insists his Roma side will be ‘stronger’ in the Champions League this season, but is wary of the draw.

Last season the Giallorossi were eliminated at the group stage of the competition, having drawn Bayern Munich, Manchester City and CSKA Moscow.

“We have to take the draw into account,” Garcia told a Press conference when asked about this season’s Champions League on the club's Australian tour.

“It’s not an insignificant detail. Last year we had a group of death, we’ll have to wait and see what we get this season.

“We’re always looking to improve, to go beyond the second round, and the experience of last year will help us be stronger.

“The results Italian football has achieved in Europe shows we’re doing important things. More and more top players are coming in, and that’s an indication of the market.”

The Frenchman then turned his attention to his own side’s transfer campaign, and is happy to give the club time to recruit the players he needs.

“The work of the directors is continuing. Things are very clear, we’ve all talked about what the team will need in the season.

“We must plan carefully to be sure of the quality of the players who come in. I’d also point out that the transfer window closes at the end of August, and we have plenty of time.

“I’m very calm.”
