Roma Coach Rudi Garcia says he 'hopes for goals' against Manchester City in tomorrow’s International Champions Cup match.

The Giallorossi beat Real Madrid on penalties after a 0-0 draw in their opening game of the pre-season tournament and the Frenchman appeared happy with the Lupi’s preparation.

“As always, we’ll play to win tomorrow,” he said at a Press conference.

“I said the same thing to the guys before the match with Real Madrid. At the end of the game I saw a group who even wanted to win on penalties, a culture of victory is important.

“It’s difficult to analyse the match with Real. After having the same team for 24 months it’s easier to make an analysis.

“We haven’t played as well over the last few months, but there is a game plan with Francesco [Totti] and without Francesco, with Mattia [Destro] and without Mattia, with [Miralem] Pjanic and without Pjanic.

“I care only about making good choices with the players who can win the match, and that they enjoy themselves and are at ease with the team’s style of play. And it seems to be so.”

“I haven’t seen City’s last few games, but we are working on the match like we always do, by giving our players useful information.

“Looking at their squad, it hasn’t changed much. They are missing three players who were at the Copa America, but they have had a good transfer market.

“They are very strong, this is always a good thing. I also have great players, on the pitch I hope to see good play, but also more goals for the fans.

Garcia was also asked about defender Alessio Romagnoli, who has been the subject of several transfer bids, and the trend of using drones and other technology in training sessions.

“Romagnoli is doing well, he trained well this morning. If he continues like this he will play against City.

“My squad is working well, I’m trying to manage the fitness of the players, taking into account that we are in pre-season.

“The technology should be used if it helps. But it mustn’t take away from the importance of the eye and human capabilities.”
