Rudi Garcia praised Marco Borriello and Roma’s “fantastic streak” of 10 straight wins, but is keeping a lid on celebrations.

“First of all I want to say Chievo don’t deserve to be bottom of the table,” he told Sky Sport Italia after a 1-0 victory.

“They played well and remained united, as a team. I said on Friday this could be our most difficult game and I was not wrong.

“At the moment we have few options on the bench in attack, but the important thing at the end of the day is to win.

“We brought the points home and it was important to make it 10 out of 10, as we saw yesterday Juventus and Napoli won while Inter and Fiorentina did not.”

Borriello had been expected to leave Roma this summer, but Garcia insisted on keeping him and he scored this evening.

“Borriello has the goal in his blood. I won’t forget how difficult it was today to play as a centre-forward, because he depends on the balls that get to him. Alessandro Florenzi’s arrived at its destination.

“Without Francesco Totti and Gervinho we are lacking something. We know Totti is unique and makes everyone play better, but I have an intelligent squad that knows how to adapt.

“If we dominated possession then it means the opponents had to run after the ball, so after an hour of that they tire and the spaces open up.”

However, Garcia ensured there will be no partying late into the night – he ordered the entire squad to eat dinner at the Stadio Olimpico after the match.

“We are having dinner here tonight to prepare for the next game in the best way possible. Am I keeping an eye on their diet? Of course!

“This is a fantastic streak for us, but we don’t have time to enjoy it too much. We have one day less than Torino to prepare for Sunday’s match, so every minute is important to recover and prepare.

“The joy we shared with our fans, that was the most important thing.”

On Halloween, Garcia was asked whether he was the Wizard of the Stadio Olimpico.

“I think we have 27 wizards, from Morgan De Sanctis to the captain and everyone in between. These players give their all and we saw again this team will never give up.”
