Rudi Garcia admits Napoli “were the better team today and deserved to win,” but slammed Roma’s attitude.

The Giallorossi lost only their second Serie A game of the season, falling 2-0 at the Stadio San Paolo.

“To win here you need to put in a great performance, but you certainly can’t do it playing like this,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We only started playing in the second half, as in the first we could’ve been down by a lot more than one goal. Napoli were the better team today and deserved to win.”

There is an injury crisis in defence, but Garcia also surprisingly left Daniele De Rossi on the bench in favour of Seydou Keita.

“It was better not to risk him and this midfield set-up had already done well. Everyone had the wrong attitude from the start.

“With the defence we signed Astori so that we’d have two left-footed centre-backs, but they were both injured today. The attitude of my full-backs has to be better when defending. Today they were below par, as everyone was.

“Fortunately there was something better in the second half, but we have got to play entire games with a better attitude.

“We lost almost every challenge in the first half. We need to reflect on that and improve. Even if it’s the first time it has happened, we must not allow this mentality to seep in again.”

It is not the best preparation for the Champions League trip to Bayern Munich, while Juventus visit Empoli this afternoon and could restore a three-point gap at the top of the table.
